Legendary blues pianist Joseph "Pinetop" Perkins died Monday at his home in Austin, TX. He was 97.

Sad to hear, but that guy had one hell of a long run. Kudos to Bonnie Raitt and others for helping him get some recognition and cash in his later years.

Probably not. Perkins once said he was happiest when he was playing music. Perkins also loved fast food and was a smoker until the day he died.

"The drive to keep playing the blues is what kept him alive. Two cheeseburgers, apple pie, a cigarette and a pretty girl was all he wanted,"
